The PUG Welcome Message |
Welcome to Power-Up Gamers or PUG for short. We're a small, but dedicated community talking primarily about video games, but branching out to other interests as well, but with one thing that should be commonplace no matter where you are on the board: Respect and Common Courtesy- you treat your fellow member with politeness and respect, and not just in back-and-forth reaction, but also when posting a subject for the first time. We're looking for thoughtful members who can express themselves like adults and not 14-year olds- all are welcome though, regardless of age, but contributions can determine if whether you stay or not- just stick to the basic rule, and you'll never find yourself in the doghouse...
If you're inclined to join us, please take a moment to read through The Rules of The Game, the terms and conditions for membership to Power-Up Gamers
Thanks for checking us out, we hope you enjoy your stay...

How does it measure up? Well, check right here for the details...

The Summer Gaming Season Starts... |

... and here's the impressions for three fun games out there...

Prototype is a big open world action game with a deep science fiction story and a uniquely super-powered character and it looks fantastic and so far, it really sounds great too. Check the impressions thread started by CloakedPuppet right here.

Fuel is probably the biggest open world racing game ever made, and features a ton of races and challenges set against a highly explorable post-apocalyptic type of world. DGoodhart has opening thoughts about the game and he's pretty pleased with what he has. Check it out right here.

Red Faction Guerilla is the third in the series from Saints Row developer Volition, and is a third person shooter that promises to redefine destruction-based gameplay in a huge open world. More impressions from CloakedPuppet start right here, so check it out.
All three games are being talked about for the Xbox 360, but all are available across multiple platforms.

20 years after first being released on the NES, the first true sequel to the classic game Bionic Commando is finally here, and makes the move to 3D with giant environments to swing on that bionic arm through. And along with the 3D, you'll also get some pretty cool new control possibilities as well.
So is this re-birth worth it? DGoodhart has been playing this one for a little while now and he's sharing the details. Check it out right here.
Bionic Commando is available on multiple platforms, but the version we're talking about here is the Xbox 360 version.

Diesel-Powered Games |
So recently, we've seen the release of two video games, featuring actor Vin Diesel in them, and of course we're talking about them...

Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is the follow-up from Starbreeze Studios earlier Riddick game that appeared on the original Xbox. Does this bring the same excitement and acclaim? Well, Zivilyn has the game in hand and has been giving it the run through.
Take a look at what he has to say about it right here.

Wheelman is an original story that uses Diesel's work in The Fast & The Furious movies as sort of it's inspiration (though keep in mind, this isn't part of that series). Promising Hollywood like car chases and stunts, with an involving story, does it deliver the goods or does it stall? DGoodhart has the game in hand and has certainly been putting it through the paces. Check out what he has to say right here.
Both games are available for multiple platforms, though the versions we're talking about are the Xbox 360 versions.

More big games!! |
And again, your humble news writer is a little delinquent getting things posted, but here's some of the new stuff that we're currently talking about...

The long-awaited return of an arcade fighting classic, Street Fighter IV is here and PUG members have most certainly been playing the game. Featuring enhanced 3D graphics and still being faithful to it's control roots, is this giving out a satisfactory fighting game experience?
Our members certainly think so... to find out more, just click here.

A brand new snowboarding experience is now here with StokEd from Destineer. For those craving the same thrills that you got from the Amped games, does this one make the cut?
Well, the Aceman has been putting some time into this and he's here to tell you... check it out right here.

The Legend of Kage 2 on the Nintendo DS |

An arcade classic returns, though now given the Nintendo DS treatment. It promises good control and a solid action platforming experience, but how does it hold up?
Well, DaBargainHunta has the game in hand and he's been giving it a solid playthrough and we're fortunate enough that he's telling us about it here. Just click here to read all about it...

More of the big games... |
More huge releases this week, and of course we're talking about them... here's a quick rundown...

Easily the most anticipated of last week's releases was Fallout 3 the newest game from Bethesda seems to take the things that made Oblivion magic and transplant it all in a post-apocalyptic world, and it does it incredibly well. Already this is looking like it will end up on a lot of Best Of The Year lists, and deservedly so. Se what the PUG crew are saying about it right here.

Baja 1000 is the second game to come this year with the word "Baja" in it's title and just like the prior game, this one is another off-road racer promising lots of thrills. Does it deliver the goods? Well, to find out you'll need to read what DGoodhart has to say about it right here.

Little Big Planet is a highly anticipated PS3 exclusive game that literally puts the power of absolute creation right into your hands. Involving exploration, collection and puzzle solving, Little Big Planet promises a truly unique experience for everyone who plays it. CloakedPuppet's been spending time with it and has some enthusiastic thoughts to share right here.
Fallout 3 and Baja 1000 are available for multiple platforms, Little Big Planet is a PS3 exclusive... have fun!
